Auto Insurance Discounters: You Are Your Own Discounters!
Auto Insurance Discounters: You Are Your Own Discounters!
If you are looking for auto insurance discounters you need look no further than the mirror! Why? Because there is no such thing as an auto insurance discounter. The best discounter of auto insurance is yourself. When looking for discounted car insurance it is crucial that you shop around. Quotes from different companies can vary by hundreds of dollars. If you check out naic.org you can find your state’s insurance site. From that site you can find out some states might not have these things reported however the range of prices your local car insurers will charge usually seen in a comparison report or survey as well as the complaint ratio of each of your local car insurers.
You can start your search for an insurance quote by checking out rates from several companies through their websites or by phone. Be sure to ask about discounts you might be qualified for I provide a list at the end of this article. You can also check out car insurance comparison sites. However these sites don’t do a very good job of giving you the lowest prices for a couple of reasons:
1. Discounts which you can be qualified for are not taken into account
2. Sometimes the lowest rate will not appear because that particular insurance company which is offering it does not pay that comparison site any commission according to an Edmunds article.
Some ways to lower your premium unfortunately some of these you have no control over.
Drive safely! Speeding tickets and accidents in which you are at fault do not look good.
Insure your car with the same insurer as your house but still see what else is out there as your “combined” rate might be higher than if you had just purchased your insurance from another car insurance company.
Shop early. Some insurers offer early bird discounts.
Insure all of your cars with the same company. This is pretty obvious.
If you are buying a new car get insurance quotes before you buy them.
Ask if your occupation qualifies you for a discount.
Do you belong to AAA? Ask about group membership discounts.
Make sure that your policy never lapses even if it is for one day.
Increase your deductible.
Consider getting rid of collision and/or comprehensive insurance.
Buy a longer policy. This is the equivalent of buying wholesale.
Do you have good credit? The better it is the more you are seen as a “safe” driver.
Do you not drive that often? Ask about a low mileage discount.
